Who should do the Basic Food Safety course?

The Basic Food Safety course suits anyone who prepares, serves, or handles food at work and doesn't need a nationally recognised qualification.

The Basic Food Safety course covers minimum food safety training requirements under Food Standard 3.2.2A. It's suitable for anyone who prepares, serves, or handles food in the workplace β€” even if food handling isn't their primary job.

Topics covered include:

  • Personal hygiene

  • Waste handling

  • Pest control

  • Safe food storage

The Basic Food Safety course is designed for budget-conscious food professionals who don't need a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. If you do need a nationally recognised qualification β€” for example, because your role legally requires it β€” choose our Food Handling Certificate (Level 1) or Food Safety Supervisor course instead.
