Why is there no Observer Report for the Basic Food Safety course?

The Basic Food Safety course is not nationally recognised, so the Observer Report requirement that applies to nationally recognised courses doesn't apply.

Nationally recognised training in food safety legally requires students to demonstrate practical food handling skills. This is typically confirmed through an Observer Report β€” a workplace colleague signs off that they've seen you perform the relevant tasks.

The Basic Food Safety course is not nationally recognised, so this requirement does not apply. There is no Observer Report and no practical assessment component.

This makes the Basic Food Safety course well suited to:

  • People who are just starting out in food handling and don't yet have a workplace observer available

  • Students in remote areas where it may be difficult to arrange a practical observer

  • People who simply want to learn essential food safety practices without going through a formal assessment process
